Healing Process
First 24–48 Hours
Initial Care:
– **Bandage**: After the tattoo is completed, your artist will cover it with a bandage or plastic wrap to protect it from bacteria.
– **Remove Bandage**: After 2–4 hours (or as advised by your artist), remove the bandage to allow the tattoo to breathe.
– **Cleaning**: Gently wash the tattoo with mild soap and lukewarm water, using your hands (not a washcloth). Pat dry with a clean towel or let it air dry.
Days 3–7
– **Peeling & Itching**: The tattoo will start to peel and flake. This is a natural part of the healing process as your skin regenerates.
– **Avoid Scratching**: As the tattoo heals, you’ll experience itching. It’s important **not to scratch** or pick at the scabs, as it can cause scarring or ink loss.
– **Moisturize**: Apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic tattoo aftercare ointment or lotion (as advised by your artist). Use just enough to keep it moisturized without clogging pores.
Days 7–14
– **Continued Healing**: The outer layer of skin may still be healing. The peeling will slow down and may be replaced by dry, flaky skin.
– **Hydrate**: Keep moisturizing the area. You can use unscented lotion or aftercare products that promote healing.
– **Avoid Sun**: Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight. Ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage the healing skin and cause the tattoo to fade prematurely.
Weeks 2–4
– **Scabs Fall Off**: The scabs will gradually fall off, and the tattoo will look mostly healed on the surface. However, the deeper layers of skin are still healing.
– **No Scratching**: Continue to avoid picking at scabs or scratching. This can cause scarring or patchy ink.
– **Showering**: You can shower as normal, but avoid soaking the tattoo in water (no swimming or hot tubs) until it’s fully healed.
Weeks 4–6
– **Final Healing**: By the end of the 4th week, most of the tattoo will appear healed, but it may still be sensitive to the touch.
– **Deep Healing**: Although the skin may look healed, the tattooed area will still be healing beneath the surface. It can take up to **6 weeks** or longer for the full healing process to complete.
– **Moisturization**: Continue moisturizing as needed to keep the skin hydrated and prevent itching.
Ongoing Care After 6 Weeks
– **Long-term Protection**: Always protect your tattoo from the sun by using sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) if you’re exposed to sunlight. UV rays can cause tattoos to fade over time.
– **Touch-ups**: After the tattoo is fully healed, if you notice areas that may need some touching up, consult with your artist for a touch-up appointment.
Things to Avoid During Healing
1. **Sun Exposure**: Avoid tanning beds and direct sunlight on the tattoo until it’s fully healed.
2. **Submerging in Water**: No swimming in pools, lakes, or hot tubs during the healing process. You can shower but avoid letting the tattoo soak in water.
3. **Scratching or Picking**: Do not scratch, pick, or peel scabs. Let them fall off naturally.
4. **Tight Clothing**: Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the tattoo. This could cause irritation or prevent the tattoo from healing properly.
FAQ

How do I choose a tattoo design?
– Our artists create custom pieces based on your ideas and preferences.
What should I expect during my first tattoo?
– The process typically involves discussing your design, placement, and size. The artist will then clean and stencil the area, followed by the actual tattooing process. It’s normal to feel some discomfort, but pain levels vary depending on the location on your body.
How do I prepare for a tattoo?
– Stay hydrated, get plenty of rest, and eat before your appointment. Avoid alcohol or blood thinners (like aspirin) for at least 24 hours before your tattoo.

What are the aftercare instructions for my tattoo?
– After getting your tattoo, follow your artist’s aftercare recommendations. Common advice includes cleaning the tattoo gently with soap and water, applying a thin layer of ointment, and avoiding direct sun exposure, swimming, or picking at the scabs.
How long does it take to heal?
– Tattoos generally take about 2-4 weeks to heal on the surface, but the full healing process can take 4-6 weeks. During this time, you should avoid activities that could irritate or infect the tattoo.
Can I get a tattoo if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
– It’s best to consult with your doctor before getting a tattoo while pregnant or breastfeeding. There is no conclusive evidence that tattoos are unsafe during pregnancy, but there are risks associated with infection or complications.
